Each year the Kachina Leadership Team choose a school theme that brings a focus to student achievement and aligns with the school vision and mission. Our theme this year is: "Power of the Paw!" In conjunction with our academic goals, we will also be focusing our efforts on increasing parent involvement and student ownership in learning. Our academic goals this year will focus on meeting the needs of the individual "whole" child. As parents, you can support our efforts by encouraging your child to give their very best effort. We also have a PTSO (Parent, Teacher, Student Organization) which is always looking for parents that want to get involved in their child's school.
I would also like to let you know that Kachina students did outstanding on the end of the year assessments. This is accredited to all the hard work by our teachers and parents to make each child successful. Thank you very much for supporting your child's education. AzMerit results are anticipated to be provided in October.
Character Counts has been a wonderful program to remind all of us of core values that we use in our everyday lives, such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. These values are integrated through out the school day and help students understand how they can apply these values in their school community.
I want to thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child's education.I also want to invite you to attend the Site Council and PTSO meetings this year and encourage you to become involved in our school. Site Council meetings are held quarterly and will be posted both in the school office and on our website. The purpose of the Kachina Site Council is to provide a forum for the views of the school vision and mission. Meetings for the PTSO are held on the second Tuesday of each month and are published in the PTSO calendar and posted on the school website. The MISSION of this group is to provide support monies to teachers and students for non district funded activities and needs. The PURPOSE is to dispense their funds as outlined in the constitution and bylaws. These funds are obtained through fund raising activities and/or donations. The GOAL is to have our children experience pride and fond memories of Kachina through fun and social activities. We would love to have you come and participate in the meetings and share your thoughts and ideas for our school.
