Greetings students, parents and families,
I am pleased to enlighten you about our Olympic start to this school year. The week before school, we opened our doors to all of you for our back-to-school bbq. It was such a joy to see all of the students make their way to meet their teachers for the 2008-2009 school year. The first day of school, Mr. Chagolla and I made our way to each classroom to welcome all students back to school. I’m certain you have heard your children talking about the phone calls we have been making in classrooms. As a staff, we are devoted to increasing academic and social achievement in our school. In order to be successful, we must all work together. If students are in school, on-time every day AND are reading a minimum of 10-30 minutes each night, we will be able to make significant gains. Our staff is committed to tracking students progress in a variety of ways to instill in our students that we CAN exceed above where we currently are. The purpose in our phone calls is to connect with you and encourage students to read each and every night. I invite you to join us at our Meet the Parent night this month to make a connection and commitment with us to guarantee your children a successful, all-around experience while attending Ira A. Murphy Elementary School. Our long-term goal over the next several years is to extend existing strong programs we have and establish new foundations that will prepare your children for years to come. I look forward to joining together with students, staff, parents,
familiy and community to make this a reality.
With monumental Mustang pride,
