Fuel up to Play 60 Celebration
Frontier's Fuel up to Play 60 team was recently rewarded for all of their efforts this year. We were invited to the Cardinals' Stadium for a fun-filled evening. We were given a personal tour of the stadium, fed a wonderful dinner complete with a milk bar, and posed for a few photos with the Cardinals' Cheerleaders and "Big Red." The evening culminated with a heartfelt speech from the Cardinals' Head Athletic Trainer and the awarding of certificates and a trophy to each participating school. I am very proud of the dedication of our Fuel up to Play 60 team. They helped inspire students to eat healthier and to get active. Be on the lookout next year for a whole new Fuel up to Play 60 team and a continued focus on eathing healthier and being active!

Amazing Adventures Club
Our Amazing Adventures Hiking Club completed their last hike on Friday night.  This one was special as it was a night hike through Vistancia.  Special thanks to teachers DeAnn Bade and Stephanie Lacy who have spearheaded this each month.  It has been great to see so many students and parents involved with hiking.  Great way to end the year and our fitness month!

Patron Tour
Over 35 visitors were on our campus Friday for our Patron Tour.  These individuals were from the community, businesses, district office and service organizations.  The visitors were so impressed with our technology, recycling efforts, but mainly the overall student population.  The Student Council members led them around to show them different classrooms and in the classrooms the students were able to tell the visitors what was going on.  One visitor from an architecture firm said he was so impressed with the energy at our school; you could feel it when you walked in the door.  I AM SO PROUD OF OUR SCHOOL!

Special thanks to Mrs. Cunningham's kindergarten class, Lisa Vela-Brogan, Lowe's and our lead maintenance man Robert Rigley for their help in sprucing up our poetry garden.  It looks fantastic!

Spring Carnival
What a wonderful community event we had on Saturday!  The weather held out beautifully and the activities were fun for all ages.  I loved seeing so many of our families participate in this yearly event.  We could not do it without our fabulous PTSO and their commitment to continue bringing you these outstanding events.  Also, thanks to everyone who donated items, particularly Lowe's for their display, and the staff, students and parents who volunteered their time for an amazing time.

Jazz Band Performs
Our Jazz Band was invited to perform at the American Association of School Administrators' Conference at the Civic Plaza on Friday.  They did a fantastic job in front of administrators from all over the country.  One school district's music director could not believe they were so good, especially being 5-8 graders.  Thank you to the folks who chaperoned and helped set up.  Ms. Mahoney has done a great job with our kids, who have only rehearsed together for three weeks.

JDRF Assistance
Thank you to students and staff who participated in our jeans/stuffed animal/hat day on Friday, February 5 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  We collected just about $1000 to this outstanding organization that helps so many of our students.  This Thursday, we will be hosting our walk-a-thon for ALL of our students.  Your student should have brought home a pledge form.  All monies should be turned in Thursday.  We are such a giving community; every dollar helps.  THANK YOU!

Congratulations Ms. Mahoney
We heard last week that Ms. Jill Mahoney, our fantastic band director, was selected the Arizona Music Educator of the Year.  This is fantastic news for a person who has dedicated the last 25 years to educating children in the Peoria Unified School District.  Please join us Tuesday, February 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the library to thank Ms. Mahoney for her service to your children.

And on the heels of this news, our Jazz Band has been selected to perform at the American Association of School Administrators Conference at the Phoenix Convention Center February 12.  We are thoroughly excited for our students.  This would not be possible without Ms. Mahoney.
