About Peoria Traditional School
The traditional school model
offers the community a small school-within-a-school for Kindergarten through
eighth grade. The model is focused on
the basics – math, reading, and writing.
The traditional program will develop a solid foundation of fundamental
and higher-level thinking skills.
Students will be taught using direct teaching techniques and non-interrupted
whole class instruction. The Peoria
Traditional School is a school of choice.
Parents choose to send their children to PTS. All teachers are Highly Qualified to teach
the content and grade level. The school
is free of charge, with the exception of the Kindergarten Academy, which
currently cost $175 each month.
Location: The Peoria Traditional School is
located at Coyote Hills Elementary School at 21180 N. 87th Ave. The traditional school is contained in a
separate area of the campus with its own entrance and start/end times for
Admissions: Peoria Traditional School is open to all Peoria
Unified students and open enrollment is accepted for students who do not live
within the district’s boundaries. A
review process includes past discipline records and evidence of motivated
Start and Dismissal Times: School starts promptly at 7:30
a.m. and releases at 2:30 p.m. This is a
different start than Coyote Hills. Our
students arrive on campus and start class before Coyote Hills’ students. Transportation to and from school is the
responsibility of the parents/guardians.
Curriculum: The curriculum is a disciplined, back-to-basics
approach. The highly acclaimed Singapore
Math is a cornerstone of our program.
While students will receive art, music, and physical education –
reading, writing, and mathematics will be our focus with a strong emphasis on
Science and Social Studies.
Uniforms: The uniforms are solid red, white, or
navy blue polo-type shirts with no logos.
Shorts (Bermuda length) and pants can be either navy or khaki.
